Full time Live in Au Pair
A full time au pair is a young person aged between 18-30 who loves children and wishes to experience a cultural exchange and become part of a Canadian family. The term au pair translates to mean by mutual agreement. Thus, an au pair assists your family with child minding and light household duties in exchange for accommodation, meals and pocket money. The au pair generally takes on the role of a big sister type figure within the family. Read more about the au pair responsibilities.
While au pairs are not qualified childcare workers, they have extensive experience and a love of children. They have committed, and are motivated to come to Canada for the right reasons. They want to be part of your family and care for your children!
A full time au pair is the most popular option. Once you have an au pair from Au Pair Canada you will not know how you managed before!
Our full time Live in au pairs provide families with the following:
- Childcare assistance. All our full time au pairs are dedicated to look after children for their stay in Canada and all have at least 100 hours of childminding references. The references will detail their exact experience so we can match the most suited applicant to your family.
- Intermediate to Advanced English. All full time au pairs must have a minimum of intermediate level English to complete our program.
- Flexible hours and workload to suit your family. Our full time au pairs can work between 25-40 hours to suit your family requirements. (See sample work schedule for full time au pair) Full time au pairs are paid per hour for their work.

Live in Demi Pair
A demi pair is a full time international student studying in Canada who wishes to live with a Canadian family as part of a cultural exchange. The demi pair program provides busy families with up to 20 hours assistance around the house, in exchange for accommodation and meals. Some candidates may receive a reduced pocket money per week for their 20 hours assistance. This depends on the candidate meeting strict selection criteria.
Demi pairs are not qualified in childcare, and may have little experience with children, however they love children and are able to offer assistance to the family. Demi pairs are also able to assist with light household duties including washing, ironing, meal preparation and light cleaning.
Demi pairs generally have a lower English level, as they are here to learn. Au Pair Canada will assist with designing suitable work schedules to maximize your experience.

Please note: Families must be within 45 minutes from the the demi pairs chosen school. Families will undergo an interview with an Au Pair Canada staff member to determine their suitability for the program.
Part Time Live in Au Pair
The part time Au pair program is unique to Au Pair Canada and offers fantastic benefits for busy families and au pairs alike! Part time au pairs are able to complete up to 20 hours of work in exchange for accommodation and meals. Some candidates may receive a reduced pocket money per week for their 20 hours assistance. This depends on the candidate meeting strict selection criteria.
These applicants are not attending school so hours can be flexible to suit the family. Many of our part time applicants will also find work outside of the home to earn extra money, around their au pair hours.
Part time au pairs are able to assist with childminding, light house duties and driving children to and from school. Applicants can be placed Canada wide and generally wish to stay with a family for 3-6 months. Register now to start your search!
